Virginia Di Giammarino is an Italian midfielder who has represented her country at youth level, including two appearances for Italy Under-17. She was also involved with the national setup at Under-15 and Under-16 level.
Virginia began attracting attention at a young age in Res Roma’s academy. She won two consecutive Primavera titles and made her Serie A debut on 11 April 2015, less than two months after her 16th birthday.
Virginia found a creative way to preserve a piece of her football journey by turning an old pair of Adidas Copa boots into a personalised handbag.
Virginia has a deep connection to the sea and her hometown of Ostia — she once described an essential part of herself as being made of “salt, sand and current.”
Before women’s football became her full-time career, Virginia combined daily training with a job as an IT assistant at a car dealership in Rome. She had little free time, but said she did not mind because football was also her favourite hobby.
Her most prolific senior season came with Roma XIV in 2017/18, when the midfielder scored seven league goals in 22 appearances.
