Julieta Ayelén Martínez is an Argentine footballer who plays as a midfielder. She has represented Argentina at youth level, including the U17 and U20 national teams.
Julieta often dedicated her goals to the sky in memory of her grandfather, who passed away in 2019.
Her mother initially did not want Julieta to join a football club because she was afraid she might get hurt, but Julieta kept asking until she eventually changed her mind.
At six, her favourite football partner was her cousin Thiago, and the two would spend time kicking a ball around together in his backyard.
Even after reaching Lanús’ first team, Julieta was determined to keep attending school, with her mother eventually having to speak with the school once football and Argentina commitments began causing absences.
Julieta did not realise she had become the youngest goalscorer of Argentina’s women’s professional era when she scored at 14 — and later hoped another young girl would one day break her record.
Julieta has a detailed micro-realistic butterfly tattoo on her forearm.
