Lauren Elizabeth Flynn is an American professional soccer player who plays as a defender for the Utah Royals of the National Women's Soccer League.
She comes from an athletic familyāher older sister played college soccer at Tennessee, and her younger sister plays for Miami.
At a young age, Flynn tried batting practice with her dad who was looking for another sport for her but quickly realized she loved soccer more.
She started playing football at a very early age.
Her older sister motivated her to continue pursuing soccer even when things didn't go well.
She never played defense until she joined Florida State, where her coach suggested switching to center back, a position she ended up thriving in.
She was named the Most Outstanding Defensive Player after Florida State won its fourth national championship in 2021.
She earned a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Government from Florida State University, followed by a Master's degree in Public Administration.
As a rookie, she won NWSL Save of the Week for blocking a shot with her head, preventing a goal against the Kansas City Current.
She is a big Patriots fan.
She suffered from bilateral compartment syndrome and had to miss part of the 2024 season due to surgery.
She represented US at the 2022 FIFA Under-20 Womenās World Cup.
