Sanne Troelsgaard Nielsen is a Danish footballer who plays as a midfielder. She represented Denmark at senior international level from 2008 to 2025, finishing her international career with 197 caps and 57 goals.

Sanne and her identical twin sister Lotte started playing football at around five or six years old, training with boys because there were not enough girls for a team in their hometown of Vejen.

Sanne and Lotte followed almost identical paths for years: they attended the same classes, became professional footballers and both qualified as pedagogues.

Before becoming a full-time professional, Sanne combined a 37-hour job as a pedagogue with early-morning fitness sessions and evening football training.

She launched her own online coaching business, Troelsgaard Fitness, during the COVID-19 pandemic and continued developing it alongside her football career.

Her teammates have nicknamed her “mormor” (Danish for “grandmother”) because she is known for looking after younger players and checking on their wellbeing.
