Sáez faced criticism as a girl for playing football with boys, and her father continued encouraging her to pursue the sport despite those attitudes.

She became a senior Chile international at just 16, making her debut against Romania at the 2011 Algarve Cup.

Her nickname is “Ratón”, meaning “Mouse.” It dates back to her childhood in El Melón and a story involving two of her friends.

The number 18 has special meaning for her. Sáez likes higher shirt numbers and says 18 brought her good luck, so she tries to wear it wherever she plays.

Football was always her favourite sport, but she also played tennis as a child and enjoyed handball at school

One of her happiest football memories is Chile's 2018 Copa América game against Argentina. She scored with her family in the stadium as Chile secured qualification for its first Women's World Cup.
