Schatzer's first football games were in the garden with her two older brothers, and she joined the boys' team in her home village of Vahrn at five years old.

She was the only girl in her village team and stayed with the boys until U10 level before joining Brixen OBI's girls' setup.

German is the language Schatzer speaks at home, and she also speaks Italian and English.

Her cousin is fellow footballer Elisa Pfattner. The pair played together from childhood, lived together for several years and later became two of the first Juventus academy players to sign professional contracts with the club.
