Isibeal "Izzy" Carolan Atkinson is an Irish professional footballer who plays for English Women's Super League club Crystal Palace and the Republic of Ireland national team.
Izzy began her professional career at just 16 with Shelbourne FC in July 2017.
She earned her first senior cap for the Republic of Ireland in January 2018 at age 16.
While at Celtic, she scored the winning goal in the 2022 Scottish Women's Cup Final against Glasgow City.
She was part of Ireland's squad for their first-ever FIFA Women's World Cup in 2023.
Known among teammates for her stylish appearances, often seen with her signature Louis Vuitton bag.
As a child, she used to imagine playing alongside Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United.
She watches Ronaldo’s Manchester United videos before every match for motivation.
She says her worst habit is biting her nails.
She started playing football at the age of two, with a photo showing her happily kicking a ball in a tracksuit as a toddler.
She joined a boys' football team when she was just five years old, and quickly gained a reputation for outperforming many of the lads.
As a young girl, all of her football role models were men, so she's now proud to be a visible and inspiring figure for younger girls in the game.
She describes herself as a “sportaholic”, recalling how she used to spend entire days playing football at the astro pitch without stopping for meals.
She has 12 tattoos.
