Melissa Lawley is an English professional footballer who plays as an midfielder for Women's Super League club Everton.
She started playing football at the age of eight, when going to watch her cousin's play and they were one player short.
She began her career in Aston Villa and Birmingham youth academies.
She hadn't really thought of becoming a professional player until she was offered a contract at Birmingham.
She has young brother and sister who come to watch her games on Sunday and who both also play football and look up to her.
She was inspired by Karen Carney growing up and it was a dream come true to play alongside her at Birmingham.
She had her first long-term in injury in 2023, having to undergo a hip surgery. She believes it made her mentally stronger and helps to appreciate the game more.
She loves shopping.
She has a pet dog named Toby.
