Nikita Josephine Parris is an English professional footballer who plays as a forward for Women's Super League club London City Lionesses and the England national team.
She has a twin sister, two brothers, and another sister. Her mother worked three jobs to support the family.
When she was in primary school, she dreamed of playing like Julie Fleeting.
She played football with boys from the age of six until she was sixteen.
She put together a football team at her local club when she was young: "I started a football team myself at the age of eleven because I wanted to have a women’s team in the local community. So, I gathered all my friends and family and everyone I knew... and we were successful. We won the league."
She was recruited by Everton at the age of ten but didn’t want to leave her childhood team at first. She later joined Everton's Centre of Excellence at age 14.
She earned a degree in sports development from Liverpool John Moores University.
Her older sister, Natasha Jonas, is a professional boxer and one of Nikita's sporting role models, along with Serena Williams.
In 2020, she founded the NP17 Football Academy, which offers sports qualifications to students in Liverpool. "That community gave me life and gave me an opportunity – that's what I want to do for these girls. I want to give them an opportunity to be successful in whatever they choose."
She also worked with England's Football Association to help raise diversity in football.
Outside of football she likes to relax, spend time with her family or go for a coffee with friends.
Her favorite movie is Man on Fire.
Her favorite places are Dubai and Jamaica.
She says her worst habit is biting her fingernails.
Her favorite food is pizza.
She is a practicing Catholic.
Her nickname is 'Keets'.
If she weren't a footballer she would be a PE teacher, tennis player or basketball player.
London City Lionesses are set to begin their first season in England's top flight on September 6 against Arsenal at their home ground, Emirates Stadium. The club has already announced several big names – in addition to Daniëlle van de Donk, Nikita Parris has now also signed.
