Mary Alexandra Earps is an English professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Premiere Ligue club Paris Saint-Germain and the England national team.

Did You Know?

She has a degree in information management and business studies from Loughborough University.
Mary Earps was once ready to give up football after feeling she wasn't good enough to be part of the England squad.
After competing for her sport in England national team. She was starting in the game against Germany in November 2019 in front of 77,768 fans at Wembley Stadium connected by EE, but would then have to wait almost two years for another cap.
In 2021, during her career, she was having several interests away from football and was considering to quit her football career. However, a contract extension at United was signed and the arrival of Sarina Wiegman as England’s head coach reignited her international career.

Earps has turned public speaking into a humorous experience, admitting she finds addressing a crowd more nerve-wracking than facing a penalty kick.
Mary Earps became the first-ever two-time winner of The Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper award in January 2024.
Earps reflects on the importance of role models in sports, especially for young girls aspiring to be goalkeepers, and emphasizes leaving a positive legacy.
Goalkeepers in women's football now receive dedicated training from a young age, which was not the case when Earps started.
Earps’s speech during the FIFA awards encouraged anyone in a dark place to keep going, emphasizing authenticity.
She got into an argument with Nike that there was not her jersey offered for sale during UEFA Women's Championship. She said: "It was sad on a personal note that my friends and family couldn’t buy my shirt, but it wasn’t about me. It was more about, I felt, the message being sent to young kids especially, but to a whole demographic of people who have a huge passion and interest in goalkeeping. I felt like they were being shunned.''Ultimately, the end goal was to get the shirts on sale, and I feel we’ve achieved that. Hopefully, it encourages kids to keep going, pursuing their dreams and the position that they want to play."

Mary Earps and Paris Saint-Germain crashed out in Champions League qualifying on Thursday with a surprisingly heavy 4-2 aggregate defeat to Juventus.

PSG went into the second leg of this second round qualifier with plenty of work to do, having lost 3-1 in Turin last Wednesday. That task became even harder almost immediately when Sofia Cantore capitalised on the chaos caused by a Juve corner to put her team 1-0 up on the night, and even further ahead on aggregate, with only two minutes on the clock.

It took until after half-time for the Parisians to get one back, when Romee Leuchter converted from the penalty spot after a foul on Marie-Antoinette Katoto, but it did spark them into life a little. Korbin Albert was extremely close to reducing that deficit further when she struck the crossbar and then Jennifer Echegini forced a strong save out of Pauline Peyraud-Magnin.

However, set piece defending - or a lack thereof - proved PSG's undoing once again, Barbara Bonansea coming off the bench to dart completely unmarked to the near post and flick a header beyond Earps that killed the tie off with 18 minutes remaining.

‘IT’S HARD TO LEAVE YOUR HOME COUNTRY’ – MARY EARPS ON LEAVING MANCHESTER UNITED TO JOIN PSG

Yesterday it was officially confirmed that Mary Earps (31) had signed a two-year contract to become a Paris Saint-Germain player. Despite becoming the best goalkeeper in the women’s game with a move to France, The Guardian has reported that she rejected a more lucrative offer from Manchester United to secure the move. As she explained, “It’s hard to leave your home country. The last few years in England have been incredible (an FA Cup win last season with Manchester United). I received a lot of messages of thanks after the announcement of my departure. There is a very big community around women’s football in England, the crowds are incredible. I hope the PSG fans will appreciate me as much, even if I will have to earn their respect for that.”
