Kosovare Asllani is a Swedish professional footballer who plays as a striker or an attacking midfielder for London City Lionesses and the Sweden national team. 

 

Did You Know?

Both parents are from Kosovo (Albanian ethnic), but she was born in Sweden.

She has a tattoo of black double-headed eagle symbolising Albania on her ankle

She also has the words "Stay Strong" tattooed on the inside of her right biceps

Asllani grew up playing both football and ice hockey.

The president of Kosovo awarded her with a Medal of Merit.

Captain Asllani on WSL start: Top four would be good season

Kosovare Asllani, captain of the Swedish national team and London City Lionesses, spoke about her club's ambitions for the upcoming WSL season. Although they are newcomers to the competition, LCL certainly do not plan to stay at the bottom of the table. This is also evident from the big-name signings the club made over the summer.

Sweden without captain? Asllani is in danger

  • With two yellow cards accumulated during Euro 2025 group stage, Sweden's captain risks missing the crucial match against Germany if she receives another booking in their next game.
  • Assistant coach Magnus Wikman stressed that Asllani is in “extremely good form” and would be a significant loss for the team if suspended.
  • While Wikman acknowledged the potential absence would be “a notable miss,” he also mentioned they are prepared to consider alternatives—such as using Lina Hurtig in the attacking midfield role a a backup plan.

200 caps for Swedish captain Asllani

  • On 4th July, Kosovare Asllani makes her 200th appearance for Sweden during the Euro 2025 opener against Denmark, becoming one of only three women—alongside Caroline Seger (240 caps) and Therese Sjögran (214)—to reach this milestone.
  • For the Swedish captain, this is her fifth and, according to her, last European Championship. Last season, she transferred from AC Milan to the second-tier London City Lionesses and, as team captain, helped them reach the top flight.
