Janni Thomsen is a Danish professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for the Utah Royals of the National Women's Soccer League and the Denmark national team.
She logged 39 appearances in Denmark’s youth national teams before making her senior debut.
She began her senior career with VSK Aarhus (2018–2020), securing a bronze medal in the Elitedivisionen in 2019. She then transferred to Norway's Vålerenga in 2020, where she contributed to winning the Norwegian Championship in 2020 and 2023, as well as the Norwegian Cup in 2020 and 2021.
She can play both as a midfielder and a defender.
She played in seven UEFA Women’s Champions League matches with Vålerenga.
In June 2022, Janni scored the opening goal in a historic match against Brazil at Parken Stadium, setting a new attendance record for a women's football match in Denmark with 21,542 spectators.
She was VĂĄlerenga's captain.
Besides football, she likes to do cross-country skiing, camping and hiking.
She is engaged to Norweigan player Elise Thorsnes, who was her teammate at VĂĄlerenga. Elise also played for Utah Royals in 2018.
