WSL (Women's Super League) announced a new partnership aimed at combating online abuse across the football community, bringing together key football organisations and regulators to share intelligence and coordinate action.

  • The initiative is a collaborative effort between multiple organisations, including the UK Football Policing Unit, The Football Association (FA), Premier League, English Football League, WSL Football, Professional Footballers’ Association, Kick It Out and Ofcom (the UK communications regulator).
  • The focus of the partnership is to streamline how online hate and abusive content is identified, monitored, reviewed and reported, with a view to taking down harmful posts and referring serious cases to appropriate authorities.
  • WSL Football and partners already monitor leagues and competitions, flagging, hiding or removing thousands of abusive posts and progressing illegal content toward prosecution where relevant.
