Aiara Agirrezabala Azkue is a Spanish footballer who plays as a defender. She has represented Spain at senior level and across multiple youth levels
Aiara’s mother, Amaia Azkue, is a well-known figure in Berastegi: she served two terms as the town’s mayor after previously working as a councillor.
Football was not her only childhood passion — she grew up loving all kinds of sport, including Basque pelota, racket sports and football.
Her brother Egoitz was one of her earliest reference points, and her mother says Aiara often followed in his footsteps as a child.
Long before her Liga F breakthrough, Aiara was already winning local races: in 2021, she was the fastest woman in Berastegi’s New Year’s Eve cross-country race.
Education still matters in her football path: she missed a Spain senior camp in June 2026 because her PAU university entrance exams took priority.
She was named a “Big Future” talent at the Gipuzkoa Sports Press Gala after winning the U19 European Championship — a local recognition that marked her as one of Gipuzkoa’s most exciting young football prospects.
