Sorriso's nickname started in the youth ranks because she was shy and often responded to conversations with laughs and smiles instead of words.

A coach once told her she was too short to become a top centre-back, but she continued pursuing her dream of playing for Brazil anyway.

She credits former Brazil international Mimi with helping her development by encouraging her to spend extra time practicing against a wall to improve her technique.

Recovering from an ACL injury became one of the biggest tests of her career, and she has spoken about relying on faith and mental strength during rehabilitation.
