Gislaine Cristina Souza da Silva is a Brazilian footballer who plays as a defender. She has represented Brazil at U20 and senior international level.
Gislaine spent 13 years with São José and was part of one of the strongest eras there, alongside stars such as Formiga and Andressa Alves.
She suffered a serious injury in 2015 and spent more than a year recovering before returning to action.
Gislaine once described herself as “very attached” to her family and said being away from home was one of the hardest parts of pursuing football professionally.
Gislaine wears captain’s armband for Fluminense.
She earlier described that she had to overcome prejudice against girls playing football during her childhood in Brazil.
Despite winning major international titles, Gislaine once said her lifestyle was far from the luxury usually associated with professional football stars.
