Tainara de Souza da Silva is a Brazilian centre back who has represented Brazil at U17, U20 and senior international level and has played professionally in Brazil, France and Germany while winning the Frauen-Bundesliga title with Bayern Munich.
Tainara is also known by the nickname “Tay.”
Tainara said she paused her career at the end of 2023 because she “needed to understand and know” herself better after a long sequence of injuries and mental exhaustion.
During that same interview, she explained that repeated injuries made her rethink her relationship with football and recovery.
When she joined FC Bayern Munich Women, she described the club as “very big” and said she wanted to “win all the titles you can win with FC Bayern.”
Tainara named Brazilian legends Marta Vieira da Silva and Formiga as her football role models.
Before moving to Germany, Tainara said she believed the tactical and technical level in German football was higher than in Brazil and France.
Tainara spent part of her early senior career playing in Brazilian women’s football with São Francisco, Vitória, Santos and Palmeiras before moving abroad.
She made her senior Brazil debut during the 2021 SheBelieves Cup against Argentina.
