In March 2026, Internacional confirmed that Eskerdinha suffered an ACL and meniscus injury in her right knee during a Brasileirão Feminino match against Atlético-MG.

“Eskerdinha” comes from the Portuguese word esquerda (“left”), a reference to her role as a left-sided player/full-back. The playful “-inha” ending makes it roughly translate to “little lefty.”

She left home at a young age to pursue football and later said the pandemic was one of the rare moments she could spend extended time with her mother and grandmother again.
