Darlene de Souza Reguera is a Brazilian footballer who plays as a forward. She has represented Brazil women's national football team at senior international level.
Darlene helped inspire the creation and development of women’s football structures around Rio Preto through her family’s long involvement in the local game.
She scored an astonishing 109 goals during the 2018–19 season with Benfica. Benfica honoured Darlene inside the club museum after this historic scoring record in Portugal.
Brazilian star Cristiane was one of the players who inspired and welcomed her in the national team setup.
Her move to China in 2016 reflected the growing investment Chinese clubs were making in women’s football at the time.
Benfica supporters quickly turned her into a fan favourite because of her goal celebrations and attacking style.
