Freya Fountain

Freya was a talented young athlete as well as a footballer, winning the East Otago girls' cross-country race and later competing at the Otago Athletics Championships.

She was also the Under-13 East Otago long-jump champion, showing her sporting background extended well beyond football.

Her football journey included Roslyn-Wakari and Southern United before she joined the Wellington Phoenix academy.

She scored in an 11–0 Central League win for Wellington Phoenix's U-18 side, one of her early recorded goals in the Phoenix academy system.

Wellington Phoenix named her the U-18 Women’s E Rere Te Keo Award winner at the club's 2025 academy awards.
