Julia Angela Grosso is a Canadian professional football player who plays as a midfielder for National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) club Chicago Stars FC and the Canada women's national team.
She scored the gold medal–winning penalty kick for Canada at the 2020 Summer Olympics, securing the nation’s first Olympic title in women’s football.
She is of Portuguese descent through her father and Italian through her mother.
She studied Sports Management at the University of Texas.
She began playing football at the age of four in Vancouver.
As a child, she also did swimming alongside football.
Growing up, she admired Cristiano Ronaldo and supported Real Madrid CF.
Her favorites also included hockey star Sidney Crosby and the NBA’s Miami Heat.
Watching the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada inspired her dream of representing her country.
Outside of football, she enjoys reading, listening to music, swimming at the lake, playing volleyball, and boating with friends.
She has a pregame ritual of eating pasta and always puts her gear on from left to right.
She collects keychains as souvenirs from every place she travels.
