Kayla Fischer is an American professional soccer player who plays as a midfielder for Racing Louisville FC of the National Women's Soccer League.
She was selected 16th overall by Racing in the 2023 NWSL Draft.
She is from Kent, Ohio.
Growing up, she cheered for the Ohio State Buckeyes but never dreamed of playing professionally.
She started playing soccer at three years old.
Her dad coached her for the first 10 years.
She tried basketball, baseball, and even American football before realizing soccer was her true passion.
Her decision to go pro came during her final year in college when she realized she didn’t want her soccer journey to end.
She has two younger sisters, Kassidy and Mallory.
She played basketball and soccer together all the way through high school.
She earned a bachelor's degree in Biology, with a minor in Pharmacology from The Ohio State University.
She is currently getting her Masters of Science in nursing, to become a nurse practitioner with a specialization in pediatrics.
Her first soccer memory is following the ball in a "swarm" like many kids do, then dribbling and scoring in empty goals when there were no goalies.
In high school, she switched to a more competitive club team during her freshman year, realizing her potential in soccer.
She enjoys doing her nails before game days.
She sleeps with stuffed animals, including a Frankenstein squishmallow and a teddy bear.
She loves milk with her dinners, especially with pizza or spaghetti.
