Fátima Barone is a Uruguayan defender who has represented Uruguay at U20 and senior international level and has played professionally in Uruguay, Argentina and Mexico.
Fátima Barone’s father, Deivis Barone, is a former professional footballer who played in Uruguay, Argentina and Colombia.
Her brother, Faustino Barone, is also a professional footballer and has played for River Plate Montevideo.
Before focusing fully on football, Barone also played field hockey in Argentina.
Barone said that as a child she regularly went with her father to football training grounds and dreamed of one day experiencing that atmosphere herself. “I always wanted to get there,” she explained during a public discussion in Querétaro.
Barone has played professionally in Uruguay, Argentina and Mexico during her senior career.
She came through the women’s system at Nacional in Uruguay before later playing for Wanderers, Platense and Belgrano.
Querétaro announced Barone as an international reinforcement for the club ahead of the Clausura 2026 season.
