Sarah Mayling

Always wanted to be a footballer, though she considered playing tennis earlier in her life. She began playing football at a young age for a boy's team and joined the Aston Villa youth academy. She made the first team debut at 16.

Believes she inherited ambition, motivation, and drive from her parents. They taught her to stay motivated, determined, and to keep pushing for more.

She comes from a family of passionate Aston Villa fans. Her dad has had a season ticket for a long time, and she followed in his footsteps, being a life-long Villa fan. Sarah was also a mascot for Aston Villa when she was young.

Enjoys watching musicals, with "Mamma Mia!" being her favorite. She loves ABBA and considers ABBA her guilty pleasure.

She says her biggest disappointment is losing the FA Cup final at Wembley to Manchester City. She reached the final with Birmingham City in 2017.

In Birmingham City, she was chosen by her teammates as the Blues Women Players' Player of the Season after the 2020/21 campaign.
