Damallsvenska's greatest talent? Who is swedish champion Felicia Schröder?

She is only 18 years old and already playing for the national team. The media describe her as one of the greatest talents in Swedish football, and she recently celebrated winning the Damallsvenskan title with her club Häcken. Who is Felicia Schröder?

She is only 18 years old. Yet she has already celebrated her first Damallsvenskan title, made her debut for the senior national team, and earned Player of the Season honors after scoring 30 goals in 26 matches. That is a remarkably strong résumé.

But let’s start at the beginning. Schröder was born near Gothenburg, where her club BK Häcken is based—on the island of Björkö—and grew up in Kalvsund. At 164 centimeters, she is not among the tallest players, but her talent and presence on the pitch were noticeable from the very start.

She began her career close to home at IFK Björkö, where she spent her entire youth career up until 2022. In 2023, at just 16 years old, she made the move to Gothenburg’s Häcken, the club she still represents today.

Despite her young age, Schröder was given opportunities in Häcken’s first team. Her debut season was an impressive one: she made 15 appearances and scored three goals, which is far from insignificant for a player of her age. Her talent couldn’t go unnoticed by the national-team coaches, and Schröder went on to represent Sweden at U17, U19, U23, and even senior level—earning a starting spot, for example, in the Nations League bronze-medal match.

Future? For now in Göteborg

The 2024 season marked a major breakthrough: significantly more matches, many more goals—30 in 26 appearances—firmly establishing her as one of the brightest young prospects in Swedish women’s football. And although top clubs from Germany or England would undoubtedly be eager to sign her, she extended her stay with BK Häcken in July 2025, agreeing to a new four-year contract that reportedly made her the highest-paid player in all of Damallsvenskan.

With her long-term contract in place and the backing of both club and country, Schröder’s future looks wide open. Bigger European clubs have already been linked with her, though for now she seems committed to growing at Häcken. As she continues to develop physically, technically, and tactically, she has the potential to become one of Europe’s most exciting forwards.

Felicia Schröder’s story is still in its early chapters, but one thing is clear: Sweden has found a star with the ability—and the mindset—to shape the future of women’s football.
