Emily van Egmond

Emily comes from a family with a strong soccer heritage, her father who is also her role model, Gary van Egmond, is a former Socceroo and has coached the Newcastle United Jets.

While she is primarily focused on soccer, she has also expressed an interest in owning a café.

Emily maintains an active lifestyle, often sharing glimpses of her training routines and leisure activities on her social media platforms.

Whenever she's not on the pitch, she enjoys spending quality time with her loved ones, family and friends.

She has a twin brother Max, who also plays football and a sister Laura.

"Em", as Emily is commonly referred to, is highly regarded by her teammates for her leadership, experience, and dedication to the sport.

She debuted for the Matildas in 2010 against Korea at the age of 16.

Emily has competed in 9 different leagues, including domestic and international competitions.

Her life time partner is Kat Thompson, a photographer based in San Diego. The couple met online in 2022 and publicly acknowledged their relationship in February 2023. In a romantic gesture, Emily proposed to Kat on a cliff in San Diego, and Kat accepted.
