Fatoumata Kanteh I Chan is a Spanish footballer who plays as a defender for Primera División club Sevilla and the Gambia national team.

Born in Spain, she represents The Gambia at international level. She also plays for the unaffiliated Catalonia national team.

Kanteh is of Gambian and Senegalese descent.

She started a "Gambia project", a sports project that is trying to collect sports equipment to support Gambia. They are also trying to support local schools and hospitals.

Her best friend is Lorena Valderas, her past teammate, a footballer playing for Logroño.

A highschool teacher was the one that had a big impact on her career. Because of all of the prejudices about women playing football (and doing sports on proffesional level in general) the parents did not let her play. The teacher was the one who persuaded them and shortly after that Fatou joined a team - Purqueras.

She is known for her versatility as a forward and midfielder.

During her debut for Gambia national team in 2021 she scored a goal.

Fatou is an ambassador of the Barris 10 program, under the Consell Esportiu Pla Estany.

Her typical goal celebration is point one hand to the sky.

There is a lovely story behing her father getting to Spain. He and his brother firstly went from Gambia to Morocco and continued through African states trying to get a visa to Spain. They did not have enough of money to buy the tickets for both of them, so Fatou's father went first, earned some money and later brought every else to Spain.

She started playing football with her classmates during the school breaks.

After school she would go play football with her older brothers. She also has a sister.

After winning the tournament with her club, she was offered to meet up with men's or women's Barca A team. She chose the women's team and it was the in her carrer when she knew she was on a right track to becoming a Pro playing first division.
