Laura Valverde Moreira is a Brazilian footballer who plays as a midfielder. She has represented Brazil at youth international level with the U17 and U20 national teams.
Laura started playing football at just four years old at Professor Fábio’s football school in Angra dos Reis.
Football runs deep in Laura’s family: her mother Dulcinéia and several of her uncles were known amateur players in Angra dos Reis in the 1990s.
Laura wants her legacy to be about more than football, including care for body and mind, fair play, people, and the environment.
Laura was pictured wearing the captain’s armband during Brazil U20’s title-winning 2022 CONMEBOL Sub-20 Women’s Championship campaign in Chile, where Brazil went unbeaten and claimed its ninth straight crown.
Laura’s family support has been a powerful part of her journey: she once shared a matchday moment with her whole family in the stands and walked onto the pitch with her young cousins, calling them the “light” she needed.
