Magdalena Eriksson is a Swedish professional footballer who plays for Frauen-Bundesliga side Bayern Munich and the Sweden national team.

Did You Know?

She has a bacherol degree in political science.

Her partner is since 2014 her Bayern teammate Pernille Harder. They fell in love when they played for the same team in Sweden and took a math course together.

Her mother is of Finnish descent.

She can open a beer bottle with her teeth.

Her best friend in the national team is Fridolina Rolfö. They both received their first invitation to the senior A team at the same time in 2014. They also played together in Linköping.

During the 2024/25 Nations League season, she played as captain against her fiancée Pernille Harder. They bet that whoever lost would have to wash the dishes at home. Fans of the Swedish national team prepared a choreographed display that read ‘Pernille will wash the dishes.’ Denmark lost both matches.

Together with Harder, they are one of the most visible LGBTQ advocates in sport. This photo became symbol, because they were one of the first openly lesbian couples.

Playing against your fiancée? It won't be the first time for Bayern's Harder and Eriksson

  • Sweden's Magdalena Eriksson and Denmark's captain Pernille Harder will face each other in the Euros—a scenario they had hoped to avoid but now embrace as an exciting challenge.
  • However, this will not be the first time for them. Sweden and Denmark have already played each other this season in the Nations League. Both teams bet that the loser would have to wash the dishes at home.
  • Magda and Pernille have been a couple since 2014, when they played together for Linköping. They played together for Chelsea and now for Bayern Munich, with whom they won the title.
