She was part of the São José squad that won the 2014 CONMEBOL Libertadores Femenina, one of the biggest titles in South American women's club football.

Mari revealed that Bahia's professional structure, investment in women's football and conversations with club management were the main reasons she accepted the move.

Mari describes her own style as being built around intelligent passing and reading the game, rather than only physical qualities, while recognizing that today's midfielders also have to defend.

She believes Bahia invests in women's football more than many people realize, saying that the club's facilities and professionalism exceeded public perception.

Mari sees one of her biggest responsibilities as an experienced player as bringing calm to teammates during difficult moments in matches, rather than only leading through technical ability.
