Zara Julie Shaw is an English footballer who plays as a midfielder. She has represented England at youth level.
She is a Liverpool-born academy product who was spotted by the club at a tournament when she was seven and signed a year later.
Her first team was a local boys’ side called Mags, where she was the only girl.
Her mum brought the louder energy on matchdays and was jokingly told not to come watch because she would be shouting from the touchline.
Her senior Liverpool breakthrough has already required serious resilience: she came back from an ACL injury in 2023, suffered another ACL injury in 2025, then returned to score the extra-time winner in an FA Cup quarter-final at Charlton in April 2026.
Keira Walsh and Serena Williams are two of the athletes she has named as her biggest inspirations.
