Bayern Munich’s women’s team will open the 2025/26 Google Pixel Women’s Bundesliga season at the Allianz Arena on September 6, 2025. This will be their fifth time playing at the famous stadium. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced that the women's soccer tournament at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics will expand from 12 to 16 teams. This marks the first time women's soccer will feature more teams than men's at the Olympics, as the men's tournament will reduce from 16 to 12 teams. The expansion reflects the growing popularity of women's soccer and aims to promote gender equality in the sport.

With this change, female athletes are expected to comprise 50.7% of participants at the LA28 Games, making it the first Olympics where women are in the majority. The United States, as the host nation, will automatically qualify for the tournament. The IOC will determine the allocation of the additional spots among the six continental federations.

Selina Cerci, a 24-year-old footballer from Kiel, made a remarkable comeback by scoring a hat-trick in Germany's 6-1 victory over Scotland.
