Chelsea has confirmed earlier speculation about the loan signing of young Japanese player Maika Hamano, who previously played on loan at Hammarby.
- Hamano, 21, joins on loan fort the rest of the season with the aim of gaining regular game time and contributing to Spurs’ attacking options as they compete in the Women’s Super League.
- She began her career with Cerezo Osaka Sakai and INAC Kobe Leonessa in Japan, before moving to Chelsea in January 2023 and spending a season on loan at Hammarby IF in Sweden, where she scored seven league goals in 17 matches.
- Hamano made her Chelsea debut in December 2023 and has been a key attacker, including scoring on the opening day of the 2025/26 Women’s Super League season against Manchester City.
- In the current season before the loan, she made eight appearances, scoring twice and assisting two goals.
