The international break has also begun for the Czech women’s national team, who are set to face Wales and Albania. As the squad assembled, the players received gift packages containing menstrual products — part of a new partnership aimed at breaking the taboo surrounding period in sport.

The move follows a wider trend in the women’s game. Arsenal’s ‘Every Stain Is Part of the Game’ campaign helped spark conversation, Manchester City teamed up with Czech brand Snuggs to provide period underwear, and clubs such as Chelsea and West Ham have launched similar initiatives. Now, the Czech women’s national team is adding its voice to the effort to normalise discussions around menstruation in elite sport.

“It makes a lot of sense. National team camps are long, and I’d assume a large number of us will be on our period at some point during that time,” midfielder Antonie Stárová said, welcoming the initiative.

She added: “We want every girl to know that it’s okay, and that there are ways to manage it. It’s important that girls stay in sport — that we’re all healthy and that as many girls as possible keep playing football.”
