Swedish international Hanna Glas, aged 32, announced via Instagram that she is ending her professional football career.
In her farewell, she wrote: “Thank you football, for making a dream I didn’t even know was possible a reality.”
Her career was significantly affected by injuries — she endured four cruciate-ligament injuries but still reached elite levels.
Internationally with Sweden, she won a bronze medal at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup and a silver medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Her club career spanned top teams including Paris Saint‑Germain Women (France), Bayern Munich Women (Germany), and from 2024 played in the US for Seattle Reign FC (NWSL).
In her statement she emphasized how the best part of the sport was “all the fantastic people I have met over the years – many of them I today proudly call my friends.”
