Celia Segura Rodríguez is a Spanish footballer who plays as a forward. The Badalona-born attacker has represented Spain at youth international level.
She grew up in Badalona’s Congrés neighbourhood, where she first had the chance to play organised football at the local sports centre.
She had to keep asking her parents before they agreed to let her start playing football.
Lionel Messi was her first football idol.
Alex Morgan was one of her earliest women’s football role models, and Celia even watched Morgan’s film when she was younger.
She scored an extraordinary 121 goals during the 2018/19 season, setting a scoring record within Barça’s academy.
Before football, her parents enrolled her in karate. She switched paths after getting the chance to play futsal for her school team.
Ping-pong is one of her favourite ways to pass the time during international camps, where the Spain players organise tournaments against one another.
Celia Segura’s name is already history at FC Barcelona. The striker of FC Barcelona B, the second team, arrived at La Masia, as the club’s youth academy is knowns, in style. After her arrival at the team in 2018, she broke the goal record and became Barcelona’s top scorer in youth football after scoring 121 goals in her first season with the team and at just 12 years old.
