Francesca Pittaccio is an Italian footballer who plays as a defender. She has represented Italy women's national under-19 football team and Italy women's national under-17 football team at youth international level.
Francesca Pittaccio started playing football when she was just five years old, first with her hometown club Villanova before joining Lodigiani, where she played alongside boys until moving into women's football.
She chose to join Res Roma as a teenager because she immediately felt it was the right environment for her development.
Before establishing herself as a defender, Pittaccio played much of her early career as an attacker, including during her spells with Roma Calcio Femminile and Ravenna Women.
She also represented Italy in beach soccer, competing in the Euro Winners Cup after the domestic season had finished.
One of the qualities she most associates with her own game is speed, and she describes her playing style as aggressive and committed whenever she steps onto the pitch.
Her message to young footballers is to keep chasing their dreams despite setbacks, sacrifice and rejection, and to enjoy the journey with a smile.
