Verónica Boquete Giadáns is a Spanish footballer who plays as a forward and attacking midfielder. She represented the Spain women's national team at senior level and also played for Spain at U19 level.
She became the first Spanish woman ever nominated for the FIFA Ballon d’Or (2014), finishing eighth in the final voting.
Boquete helped 1. FFC Frankfurt win the UEFA Women’s Champions League in 2015, making her the first Spanish player to lift the trophy.
Her breakthrough season at Espanyol saw her win back-to-back Copa de la Reina titles in Spain.
Boquete was named WPS Player of the Year in 2011 during her spell with Philadelphia Independence.
She captained Spain and remains one of the national team’s most prolific scorers with 38 goals in 56 appearances.
She spent time in China with Beijing BG Phoenix, adding to a career that spans multiple continents and playing styles.
