Lucía García Córdoba is a Spanish forward who has represented Spain at youth and senior level.
She is the only girl among four siblings born in the same multiple birth; she and her three brothers were born prematurely after seven months and spent time in incubators.
She grew up in Pola del Pino, a tiny mountain village in Asturias where, by her own account, there was not even a football pitch.
As a child, she spent hours kicking a ball against the wall of her house, often from 6 p.m. until midnight, and she admits she broke more than a few windows and flowerpots along the way.
Before football fully took over, she played one year of futsal and then switched to athletics for two years.
A PE teacher encouraged her to try out for Oviedo Moderno after seeing how often she played at school, and when she arrived in Oviedo, she was still so new to organized football that she did not even know what offside was.
