She remembers playing football from age seven, starting in inter-class school tournaments in Dosquebradas.
She moved into futsal at 12 and even competed with older women.
Before fully settling into 11-a-side football, she did not initially find it exciting at 15 but later grew to love the game.
Her mother did not like her playing football and would even pull her away from the pitch by the hair. Marcela had to come up with lies to be able to go to training.
Earlier in her development, she also spent time as a goalkeeper.
