Carolina Arbeláez Castaño is a Colombian footballer who plays as a midfielder. She has represented Colombia at senior international level and was part of the country's player pool during the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup cycle.
Carol was born in Rionegro, Antioquia, Colombia, and grew up playing football with her cousins and friends in the streets before moving into organized sport.
Before focusing on football, she also practiced swimming, tennis, basketball and skating.
She began her sporting journey in futsal, which she credits for helping her develop technique, intelligence and speed on the ball.
Family is one of the most important parts of her life. She has said that staying connected with her family is her biggest motivation.
She has said that one of her happiest memories was scoring the goal that helped Colombia qualify for the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in 2012.
Carol is a lifelong supporter of Atlético Nacional, the club where she later became captain.
She named Natalia Gaitán and Leicy Santos among the Colombian players she most admires.
