Jill Roord is leaving Manchester City for FC Twente

  • On May 24, 2025, Manchester City confirmed that Dutch midfielder Jill Roord has signed a permanent deal with FC Twente.
  • Dutch international returns to FC Twente, the club where she began her professional career in 2013, before stints at Bayern Munich, Arsenal, VfL Wolfsburg, and Manchester City. Her dad is former Dutch footballer René Roord, who also played for Twente.
  • In the 2024/25 season, Roord made 31 appearances, netting six goals and contributing three assists. She scored in her final match for City against Crystal Palace on the last day of the season.

Huge boost for Man City as Jill Roord returns to squad after eight months out with ACL injury

Jill Roord will make a return to Manchester City squad after spending eight months on the sidelines following an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

  • Roord suffered an ACL injury in late January
  • Has returned to full training post-recovery
  • Will be inducted in squad against Brighton

Roord picked up the injury in City’s Conti Cup group stage victory over Manchester United back in January. And after a long road to recovery, she was finally cleared to join her team-mates in training in September.
