Kathrin began her career at the age of seven in her hometown with FC Eupen 1963, before joining FC Teutonia Weiden in the summer of 2003 after four years.
On 25 September 2011, she scored her first Bundesliga goal in a match against 1. FC Lokomotiv Leipzig.
She played for Bayer Leverkusen and helped them gain promotion to the Bundesliga in the 2009–10 season.
She was a regular starter for Germany during the 2022 European Championship, which ended in a final loss to England.
She had the opportunity to choose between Belgium and Germany for her international career but always felt more drawn to Germany because she grew up watching Germany’s women’s national team on TV.
She is fluent in German, French, and a bit of Walloon dialect from her hometown.
