Simone Naomi Charley is an American professional football player who plays for the Orlando Pride of the National Women's Soccer League.
Besides playing football, she also competed in track and field since childhood.
She was inspired to try the triple jump by her brother and sister, both of whom are also jumpers.
She set her college's record in the triple jump multiple times.
She missed out on qualifying for the World Athletics Championships 2014 by one centimetre.
She began playing football in kindergarten and started track in first grade.
Her mother’s family is originally from Montserrat, and many of them now live in England and Grenada.
While at Vanderbilt University, Charley earned a bachelor's degree with a double major in psychology and sociology and a master's degree in medicine, health and society.
She's Christian and likes to actively participate in her church.
She loves sushi.
One of her favorite players in college was Romelu Lukaku.
To pump up before a game, she likes to listen to Kendrick Lamar or Drake.
She credits her faith with helping her through challenging moments in her career.
She likes to support local charities focused on social justice, literacy, and youth development.
She has ambitions to represent the U.S. Women’s National Team or even England, as she is pursuing dual citizenship through her English mother.
She mentioned J. Cole, Coldplay, and Khalid as some of her favorite artists. Her favorite J. Cole album is KOD, which she feels is particularly impactful.
She names her mom as her role model.
She was named to the 2019 Vanderbilt SEC Class of Women Legends.
She was elected as the vice president of the NWSL Players Association in 2024.
