Emma Moreno: Atlético Madrid Femení's Wonderkid and Spain U19 European Champion

Emma Moreno is one of the jewels who has come out of the Atlético de Madrid youth academy. In addition, she is also one of the regular players in the lower categories of the Spanish National Women's Team. The Spanish striker has just become European U19 Champion and, in addition, has been one of those chosen for the ideal eleven of the tournament. In it, UEFA has highlighted the “tactical discipline” of the red-and-white player. 

The 25/26 season has been a small leap in Emma Moreno’s career, as she went on loan to Eibar to play in Liga F, the Spanish First Division of women’s football. Before that, Emma had already made her debut with Atlético de Madrid in the topflight. She did so in the 24/25 campaign and Against Deportivo Abanca.

Winning? That's what she does

In her record she has three European titles, won with the Spanish U17 National Team (2024) and two more with the U19 (2025 and 2026). In addition, she has achieved them all consecutively and being a key piece in the team. At the global level, Emma participated in the 2024 World Cup with the U17, a tournament in which she ended up winning the silver medal.

Emma Moreno is a player different from the rest thanks to her versatility. The young player has been presented as a striker and midfielder by Atlético de Madrid, as she can play in different positions. So far, she has done so as a midfielder, winger and pure striker. At Eibar she was also welcomed as an attacker and in David Aznar’s last call-up for the U19 European Championship her name appears among the defenses.

To be aware of the importance of Emma Moreno in the Atlético de Madrid youth academy, she was one of those chosen to lay the first stone of the club’s new sports city in 2024. The player appeared with Taufik Seidou and both were the representatives of the red-and-white academy in charge of attending the event.

How her story with Atléti Femeni began?

Emma Moreno arrived at Atlético de Madrid in 2015 and entered the club’s academy. Then, when she turned 16, she signed his first professional contract with Atlético. During her short career she has also stepped on the pitch of the Metropolitano to be honoured for winning the European U17 Championship two years ago, a tribute that extended to the Ciudad Deportiva de Alcalá de Henares, where the women’s team plays every weekend at home.

It's for this reason, and because of their values, that the club chose these two players to lay the foundation stone for what will become the club’s ‘Sports City’, to be situated in the vicinity of the Metropolitano Stadium.

The 25/26 season was the first in which Emma Moreno played the entire year in the topflight after joining Eibar on loan. The Basque side narrowly avoided relegation and Emma clocked up a total of 1,542 minutes in the topflight, spread across 29 matches. The Madrid-born player scored one goal in the competition and returned to Atlético de Madrid for the 26/27 season, where she will have the chance to make the definitive leap to become a full-time member of Atlético de Madrid’s first team.
