Lucy Bronze and Niamh Charles are back in squad and ready for city derby
Chelsea face a city derby against Tottenham on Sunday — and luckily, two key defenders are set to return to the squad.
Chelsea head coach Sonia Bompastor announced that both Lucy Bronze and Niamh Charles are now fit again and available for selection in the upcoming WSL match against Tottenham.
Lucy Bronze has been sidelined since the Euro 2025 tournament, where she played despite injury. Niamh Charles had been forced off at half-time in a match against Aston Villa due to ankle trouble.
Their return comes as Chelsea prepare to face an in-form Tottenham in the WSL, a side unbeaten against Chelsea historically in the league. Bompastor acknowledged the Spurs team’s improved dynamics and warned Chelsea must be at their best.
While Bronze and Charles will be available immediately, Lauren James and Naomi Girma are still working their way back and might return after the international break.
