Women’s football could be a Top 5 global sport by 2030
According to a Nielsen Sports and PepsiCo report, women's football fans are expected to grow from 500 million to over 800 million by 2030—a 38% increase—placing it within the top five most popular sports worldwide.
The report highlights that approximately 60% of these fans will be women, making it one of the few major sports with a predominantly female viewership.
England’s Women’s Super League saw revenues grow 34% during the 2023–24 season, with expectations to reach £100 million in 2025–26. NWSL viewership also rose 18% in its most recent final, and UEFA Women’s Champions League broadcast deals are expanding across Europe .
