We can all agree that dogs are our most loyal companions, brightening our lives in countless ways. Women’s footballers are no exception, often proudly showing off their four-legged biggest supporters on social media. So, who are the beloved pets of the game’s biggest stars?

Myle Meadema (Cocker Spaniel, Vivianne Miedema and Beth Mead)

Let’s begin with arguably the most famous football pup of them all. Beth Mead and Vivianne Miedema’s cocker spaniel, Myle, is a celebrity in her own right — complete with her own Instagram following. She even accompanied Miedema to her Manchester City contract signing, where the club playfully dubbed her their newest mascot.

Elsa (dachshund, Alice Carsson)

In Stockholm, Hammarby’s captain shares her life with a smooth-haired dachshund named Elsa, who regularly steals the spotlight on social media. Carlsson’s passion for Hammarby is undeniable — but so is her love for her four-legged sidekick, who accompanies her everywhere. She even organised a birthday party for Elsa. Safe to say, she’s thoroughly adored.

Otis, Brody and Rolo (doodles, Chloe Kelly)

Chloe Kelly carries her biggest supporters with her every time she steps onto the pitch. Her dogs are pictured on her shin pads — next to a snapshot from her wedding day, when they accompanied her down the aisle. She frequently brings her three ‘boys’, as she calls them, along to England camps too. For Kelly, they’re part of the team.

Wilma Jean (bulldog, Rose Lavelle)

The dog obsession extends to the US, too. NWSL Champion and Olympic gold medallist Rose Lavelle rarely goes anywhere without her bulldog, Wilma Jean. Thanks to Lavelle’s partnership with Pro Plan, Wilma Jean has become a social media star in her own right — and arguably one of the most recognisable pups in women’s football.

Peggy McFoord (Katie McCabe and Caitlin Foord)

Arsenal might just be the most dog-friendly club in the league. The club even has its own dog — Win, a brown Labrador who has become a familiar presence around the team. The players themselves seem to have formed an unofficial ‘dog club’, recently welcoming a new addition: little Peggy, the pup shared by Gooners Katie McCabe and Caitlin Foord. She joins the already well-known Win, Steph Catley’s dog Calvin and Vic Pelova’s Jax. In north London, it seems, dogs are very much part of the squad.
