Discover more than stats. Get more of who she is.

She joined Werder Bremen’s youth academy in 2012 and made her senior debut just two years later, at age 16.

She missed the entire 2015–16 season due to a fractured ankle.

She signed with SC Freiburg in 2020 but soon faced another major injury — a torn ACL in October.

She made her national team debut in Wembley Stadium against England — and even assisted a goal. She called it “an absolute dream.”

Her essentials for travelling are a pillow and a bible.

She says her identity is not in football but in Jesus. She sees herself as a Christian who plays football, not the other way around.

She knew from a young age that football was her true love—other sports like swimming and gymnastics never interested her.

At just 15 years old, she moved away from home to pursue her football career more seriously by attending a sports school in Bremen.

She starts her day with Bible reading and prayer, and also prays before matches to keep the right perspective.

Giovanna is involved in “Fußball mit Vision”, a Christian network of (former) players supporting each other spiritually.

She joined her first football club at age 9, thanks to a friend who invited her to a training session—she hadn't planned on it.

She has already completed a law degree and plans to become a lawyer after her football career.
