Mailin Tenhagen is a German footballer who plays as a defender for SGS Essen.
She earned her place in the first-team squad after helping SGS Essen U17 win the autumn championship in the B-Juniorinnen Bundesliga West/SĂĽdwest and training consistently with the senior group.
Growing up in a footballing family, Mailin follows in the footsteps of her grandfather Jupp Tenhagen, a West Germany international and Bochum legend, and Harald Katemann, her father and former professional defender.
Besides football, she’s a talented hurdler—finishing just off the podium in fourth place in the 300 m hurdles at the German Youth Athletics Championships.
Her football journey began when her grandfather enrolled her in a football school.
She’s inspired by players who came from her hometown club, like Marina Hegering, showing her that making it to the top is possible.
Her pre-game ritual is to always puts on the right sock first, then the left. Not the type to dance in the locker room, prefers to focus quietly.
Her favorite football memory is scoring her first national team goal with a well-timed header from a free kick at the Algarve Cup in Portugal.
She captained Germany's U15 team.
